Vic: John Farnham not associated with S 11 protest, manager says
JOHN FARNHAM's manager says the singer has no link with the protest group S-11, but
there's nothing he can do to stop it using his song You're The Voice.
S-11 has ignored demands from Farnham's record company to remove the song from its website.
FARNHAM'S manager GLEN WHEATLEY says he can't do much about it because S-11 is a group
with no names and no addresses, so there's no-one he can sue.
But he says he doesn't want protesters chanting You're The Voice in the streets because
JOHN FARNHAM doesn't support S-11 and he doesn't want people to think he does.
An S-11 spokesman says You're The Voice is the perfect protest anthem because it's
about the power of the individual.
He says it's only JOHN FARNHAM'S lawyers who are objecting, and the singer himself
would probably be proud that protesters are using his song.
But the S-11 spokesman says FARNHAM is overseas and doesn't know anything about it.
The S-11 group has set up the website to publicise its plan to block the World Economic
Forum, a meeting of corporate and political leaders, in Melbourne next month.
