Vic: DFAT seeking info on seal-hunt observers
Foreign affairs officials are yet to confirm the safety of three Australians believed
to be on board a ship that has been seized by Canadian authorities.
The ship .. owned by a US-based conservation group .. was documenting Canada's annual seal hunt.
PAUL WATSON .. head of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society .. says crew members from
two Canadian Coast Guard vessels boarded the Farley Mowat yesterday in the waters of the
Cabot Strait.
Canada's federal Fisheries Minister LOYOLA HEARN has issued a statement .. saying the
government's acting in the best interests of the sealers.
The foreign affairs department in Canberra says officials are trying to find information.
